Creative health
Our creative health strand of activity supports mental health and wellbeing for individuals in a warm, safe and inclusive environment.
There is a huge amount of evidence to show that taking part in creative activity can help reduce anxiety, build confidence and improve mental health and wellbeing. Put simply, we know that creativity helps people feel better.
“Since joining it really has helped me so much for my own mental wellbeing. It has genuinely helped my confidence in getting involved with people again and life too”. (Health & Wellbeing participant)
Over the years we have supported the delivery of regular weekly workshops in a variety of localities. Free, welcoming sessions led by professional artists have boosted wellbeing and connection. From crafts and creative writing to dance and nature walks, our creative approach provides a positive, non-clinical way to improve mental health, nurture resilience and build connections.
We’re a member of the Culture, Health and Wellbeing Alliance Culture Health and Wellbeing Alliance and work with other arts organisations across the north east to advocate for the role of creativity and culture to promote well-being, tackle loneliness and isolation, support those living with poor mental health and ease the pressure on our NHS.
