Our work in Landscape and Environment brings communities closer to their natural heritage. Through creative projects and hands-on experiences, we explore the stories, science, and beauty of our surroundings.
Together, these initiatives inspire pride, support advocacy and increase understanding of the landscapes we call home.
Since Northern Heartlands began, environmental issues have been central to our work. We have worked closely with partners such as North Pennines National Landscape, Yorkshire Dales National Park and Durham Wildlife Trust, as well as Teesdale Special Flora and the National Trust. We have worked with artists to raise awareness of the fragile ecologies of nature reserves, the critical role of the hill-farmer and the globally significant alpine flora unique to our own landscape in Teesdale.
